An Original Antique Copper Plate Engraving – “Marlborough” engraved by John Greig after a drawing by John Britton, and published by John Walker in 1800 at his establishment based at 16 Rosomans Street, London.

John Britton (1771–1857), was an English architectural draftsman, topographer, and antiquarian who heavily influenced British Neo-Gothic architecture and published major surveys of English antiquities and cathedrals. His key focus was British medieval architecture, cathedrals, and historic public buildings 

These 19th-century engravings of Marlborough and Wiltshire churches tied to Britton’s projects remain collected as antique regional prints. 

Beautifully presented in a wood gold leaf and stippled frame with matting.

The verso shows the original text that accompanied the printing.

12 inches long x 10 inches wide x 1 inch deep.

The print measures 7 inches long x 5.5 inches wide.

Not examined out of frame.

Very good antique conditions, age related wear to the paper backing on the verso.
