Description
From Creil and Montereau Faïenceries, a Terre de Fer ironstone plate in the Sunflower pattern called ‘Tournesol’, France, circa 1895 – 1900.
The Art Nouveau floral pattern is transfer printed in a deep red on a creamy white ironstone body. The dinner sized plates show a large stylized spray of sunflowers, seed heads and leaves, balanced with a sprig of Lily of the Valley. The shaped rim has a raised twig-like effect and is outlined by hand in the same red as the floral pattern.

Marked: Printed mark showing the entwined printed C & M for Creil et Montereau, Service Tournesol – Deposé – Terre de Fer along with impressed number marks.
