Description
A scarce French barbotine majolica glazed Artichoke plate, Digoin, circa 1890-1910. Digoin, the oldest pottery in the Loire Valley was located in the Saône-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne, eastern France.
The divided plate shows two deeper wells, one for sauce and one for waste. Two hand-painted artichoke flower heads, in green and purple are seen in the center area. A wide raised, scalloped and embossed rim shows a blue-green glaze.
