A scarce Aesthetic Period English majolica glazed pitcher, shaped as an artichoke, circa 1880.
Attributed to Adams & Bromley, a bulbous form jug, with a yellow ochre body molded as an artichoke showing tight, overlapping green tipped leaves.
A brown ear-shaped branch form handle leads to tall round base of green leaves.
A high spout and a pink interior.
An unusual form.
7.5 inches from handle to spout x 5.5 in, W x 7.5 in, H
In very good condition. Light roughing to the spout, a teeny older nick to the rim, as shown, as expected due to age and use.
