An early, English majolica Birds Nest pitcher, maker unknown, circa 1875.
A wonderful example of a desirable mold in unusual bright majolica glazing. Showing a design of a mother and father bird feeding a nest of babies. The nest rests in a leafy branch and is surrounded by green ivy. The cream colored ground is modeled as a tree trunk, the handle is formed as a brown knobbed branch with leaves. Molded crisply in high relief, the design repeats on both sides. A soft pink interior.
Marked with the raised English diamond registry.
