A Transferware platter in the Fountain pattern – Enoch Wood & Sons. – Burslem, Staffordshire, England – circa 1818-1846,
A dramatic and detailed brown printed earthenware platter with a central image of a large triple tiered fountain placed in the middle of a pool, surrounded by full leafy trees. A pair of figures stand in the mid ground with distant buildings and mountains visible in the distance under a clouded sky. The scalloped rim has a floral and scrolled border.
Marked: A scrolled cartouche, E. Wood & Sons, with the pattern name.
