A French Majolica plate by Fives-Lille, Circa 1890. Made to serve both artichokes or asparagus and showing images of both plants. Glazing of greens on a white ground, with a deep purple on the spear heads of the asparagus. The globe-shaped head of the artichoke plant forms the dipping sauce well. The dusty pink shaped rim has a gray scrolled acanthus leaf pattern, showing a masked head opposite the sauce well.
