A scarce French barbotine majolica glazed Asparagus plate, circa 1890-1910, maker unknown.
The divided plate shows four symmetrical bunches of delicately glazed, curved asparagus spears, edging two shell form wells, one for sauce, the other for waste. The unusual wide turquoise banded border flows into a burgundy glazed scalloped rim. A deep plate with a wide footing.
