A Mid-Century seven piece dessert set, by Hélène Ugo, Vallauris, France, circa 1950s.
Hélène Ugo was a renowned ceramicist making pottery in Vallauris, a village in the South of France, along side Pablo Picasso, Roger Capron and Charles Voltz. Her work is bold in both color and form.
A leaf shaped platter and six plates, glazed in a bright yellow and rimmed in a drippy black. The leaves have a pattern of raised mold work suggesting veining. Both the platter and the plates have a stemmed handle at one end.
