Mid-Century Modern French MBFA Pornic Pottery Belon Oyster Plate

$225.00

1 in stock

Description

A mid-century French hand-painted oyster or seafood plate, made by the MBFA Pornic Pottery Studio, circa 1960s.

The MBFA Pornic ceramic company is situated in Loire Atlantique, Western France, near Quimper.

The plate is glazed ceramic, and decorated with a sunny graphic pattern in bright yellow and spring green on a crisp white background. The plate has six oyster shell shaped wells, ringed by seaweed, for holding oysters, mussels or scallops, and a larger central well shaped as a lemon for lemons or a dipping sauce. The mold is raised around each well, adding dimension.

Bright and impactful – a great representation of the Mid-Century era of French design.
