A scarce, “L’écureuil” N° AE, French Barbotine majolica pitcher, formed as a squirrel sitting on a branch and eating a nut. The squirrel’s tail makes up the handle. Made by the Orchies Faïence pottery factory, circa 1886-1900.
Orchies produced over twenty humorous majolica animal jugs including cats, dogs, roosters, pigs and more rarely the braying donkey jug and this squirrel jug.
