A French majolica plate, attributed to Orchies, Northern Belgium, circa late 19th Century.
A beautiful, brightly colored floral plate, molded as a closeup view of a Dahlia bloom. French blue fades into a creamy white, and back to blue with an impactful yellow center. The rim is petal shaped. A dimensional mold, beautifully and realistically sculpted, typical of the majolica produced by Orchies when the factory was located in Flanders. Orchies was situated close to the famous ceramic centre of Saint-Amand-les-Eaux where the Moulin des Loups factory had been based since the 18th century.
