A set of twenty-four Art Nouveau period table forks and spoons made by Saglier Frères, circa 1900.
Scaled for the French table, oversized and heavy by todays standards, the silver plate service consists of twelve each dinner forks and spoons. Showing a lovely, raised, stylized floral pattern. Beautifully made, the set weighs nearly five pounds total.
Known for their high quality production, the Saglier Frères, Eugène and André, were located at 12 Rue d’Enghien in Paris, taking over the business after the death of their father in 1897, the well known Victor Saglier.
Spoons: 8.5 in. L x 1.75 in. W x 1.25 in. H
Forks: 8.5 in. L x 1 in. W x 1.25 in. H
Marked: Each piece is marked on the front with SF and quatre étoiles, (four stars) in a small square, along with the number 84, indicating the quantity of silver used in the plating process.
