Description

An English stag antler handled flatware set, made by Samuel Peace in Sheffield, England, circa 1895-1925.

Five each dinner sized fork and knives made of heavy, substantial quality stainless steel utensils set into naturally shed antler handles with beveled, oval steel end caps.

The stainless steel blades have a sharp straight edge marked: Samuel Peace, Sheffield, England. The utensils are firmly joined to the handles with a silver-pleated ferrule.

Samuel Peace and Sons ltd. Cutlery and Stag Works, was based at 21, Red Lion Street, Clerkenwell, Sheffield and the firm was a member of the UK Cutlery & Silverware Manufacturers’ Association. Peace was known for their expert processing of stag handles. The stag antler was boiled and dyed in order to produce a uniform color, presenting an excellent product.

The antler handles measure approximately 1 inch round

Dinner Forks – 8.25 in. L

Dinner Knives – 9.75 in. L

Heavy, good quality, in very good condition with the expected light wear and patina to the silver ferrules.

Blades and mounts fit tightly into the handles.
