Description
A Saint Clément French Faïence, a majolica glazed plate showing overlapping asparagus spears, leaves and globe artichoke heads on blue stems. A deep sauce well is also formed as an artichoke head. Glazed in lilac, blue, and various shades of greens on a cream ground.
The faience factory of Saint-Clement, located 12 kms from Lunéville, was established in 1758 by Jacques Chambrette. The factory was awarded the label as Royal Supplier for Marie-Antoinette’s Trianon. In 1892, the factory was sold to Keller and Guérin, who already owned the earthenware factory of Lunéville.
