Description
A set of four Sterling Silver knife rests, with traditional cast Jack-style ends, circa mid 19th Century, showing unidentified Continental European makers marks.
The long, tapered and shaped center struts are supported by four point jacks at either end. Each strut shows an older initialed monogram beneath a five-point crown.
Rather then balance a knife on the edge of a plate, these rests were placed to the right of each place setting to keep the knife from soiling the table linen.
