Description
A Wedgwood Majolica earthenware pottery match holder and striker, Staffordshire, England – circa 1869.
For the hearth, kitchen or bedside, the holder is ribbed for lighting strike-anywhere matches, the bottom tray is for the spent sticks. The base is colored with a deep green, ochre, and brown mottled tortoiseshell glazing, a light brown rims the cream clay colored striking area.
