Wedgwood Majolica ‘Ocean’ Sardine Server – SOLD

A Wedgwood majolica lidded sardine server, in the pattern known as ‘Ocean’ – date marked 1879.

Formed as a Cobalt blue, rope tied wooden crate floating in the ocean waves. The crate is covered with raised seaweed and shells. The waves are dimensional, glazed to show whitecaps, and filled with bits of floating seaweed and shells. An orange border matches the roping and looped handle of the crate. A pink interior.

The impressed Wedgwood mark, an English diamond registry mark, and the date letters, CAH, the H for the year 1879.

8.25″ L x 7.25″ W x 3.5″ H

Very good antique conditions – light staining to the exterior bottom of the base.
