Description
An early 19th Century French miniature portrait, oil on vellum or ivory under glass, portraying an older woman wearing a bonnet tied with a blue ribbon, her ample bosom showing in a blue dress with a sheer, ruffled high neckline, reflecting the period. She wears a gold hoop earring.
The black wood frame shows an oval gold painted bezel around the portrait with a leaf form hanging ring attached to the front. The verso shows metal points holding the portrait in place and an old paper backing.
