Description
From the Atelier Cérenne à Vallauris in France, a set of ten, rustic pottery flower holding knife rests, circa 1940-1950.
Glazed in the popular majolica colors found in the South of France, these knife rests are made entirely by hand.
Knife rests are used during the meal to protect table linens from soiled cutlery.
A flower stem ends in a blossom cup, on a free-form base. The cup doubles as a small vase for holding a small bouquet of flowers at each place setting.
Charming in form – a gorgeous array of colors ranging from deep burgundy, deep pink, dark and light greens, turquoise, and a sunny yellow.
4 inches long x 1.5 inches wide x 2.25 inches high.
Wonderful conditions, the usual expected light wear seen in faïence – nothing to detract.
