Description
A brightly glazed English majolica bread tray showing a graphic pattern of pears on a brown bark-like ground, Adams & Bromley – circa 1875-1885.
Four groups of bright, branching yellow pears with green leaves stand out boldly against the deep brown ground molded to resemble the bark of the pear tree. Â The branches twine down the deep sides of the tray, and meet to form the bottom rim. The footed verso shows a brown sponged glazed finish.
Made to serve breads or cheeses, this piece is unmarked. The mold is attributed to Adams & Bromley.
