English Minton Majolica 8″ Pineapple Pitcher

$1,200.00

1 in stock

Description

From the Minton pottery in Staffordshire, England, a majolica glazed pitcher in the Palissy style, formed as a pineapple, registered and dated October 5th, 1858.

From a set of three pitchers, graduated in size and offered separately, this is the mid-sized jug. Realistically molded, the body is formed as the pineapple, glazed in a deep golden yellow. The neck, handle and spout are glazed in shades ranging from deep green to blue-green, and are molded as the spear shaped leaves of the fruit. The interior is fully glazed in a beautiful blue-green, particular to Minton. The same green is used on the base, which shows the makers mark, a diamond shaped English registry mark, and various mold numbers.

Marked as shown.

6 in. W from handle to spout x 4 in. W x 8 in. H

The last two photos show the three pitchers as they relate to each other in size.

Excellent antique conditions.
