A French Faïence majolica glazed asparagus plate, maker unknown, circa 1880s. Four crossed asparagus spears with purple tips border a deep sauce well. Hand-painted red berries and leaves decorate the surface. A turquoise egg and dart type Gothic border is edged in chocolate brown. An elegant water-color feel to the glazing.
