An assembled set of twelve English majolica plates, attributed to Simon Fielding, Railway Pottery, Sutherland Street, Stoke-on-Trent. Fielding worked as a judge of poultry and dogs to the Duke of Sutherland at Trentham Hall before founding his pottery. His son had apprenticed at the Blythe Color Works in Cresswell and joined him to begin majolica production in 1878.
A brown bamboo form rim edges a turquoise blue basket weave body. Bamboo branches with leaves and flowers are sprayed across the front – in the Aesthetic Japonisme taste.
7.5″ Diam. x .75″H
In very good antique condition. Overall light crazing and darkening seen to the versos.
