Description
A charming vintage earthenware asparagus plate, beautifully hand decorated with a floral design in the faïence tradition of Martres-Tolosane. Painted in a style that began in the southwest of France in the 18th century. Made by Georges Cabaré, circa 1960.
The dimensional plate has a molded bunch of asparagus in the center with two deeper wells on either side, one for a dipping sauce and one for waste. The scalloped edging has a hand painted floral border in typical Provençal colors.
Marked EM AA, the mark of the painter.
