Description

SOLD

A French Majolica barbotine asparagus Saucière or sauce boat on an attached stand, from the Salins-les-Bains region of eastern France, circa 1875-85.

A bunch of purple tipped asparagus spears with green and mustard yellow leaves form the boat. Two delicately bent creamy white spears form the handle. Gorgeous glazing.

Incredible antique condition. Light kiln detritus to the inside of the boat, a firing effect in the making.
