A super scarce majolica glazed Oyster plate, Wedgwood, Staffordshire, England, date marked 1883.
Most often seen glazed in the Argenta cream color way, the variated black ground makes this oyster most desirable.
In the Aesthetic taste, six oyster wells hold a leaved Chrysanthemum flower head, alternating in cream, pink, and yellow terminating in a center turquoise round well. The wells are separated by turquoise rays, all on a stippled ground. Rimmed in yellow. Dimensional mold work with strong color.
9 in. Diameter x 1 in. H
Marked: Impressed Wedgwood, showing the date mark L for the year 1883
In incredible antique condition.
